United Reserves take on Liverpool reserves at Wrexham on Sunday, having already been crowned Champions. With Villa's failure to beat Leeds on Thursday night, United can even afford to lose on Sunday. However, it is unlikely that the team will want a drop in their standards of play.

Reserves boss Rene Meulensteen was predictably delighted that United sealed a league and cup double, but will not allow his players to slack off in their final league game.

"It feels great, the boys have been excellent. It's always a bit strange to pick up the championship without playing, but that doesn't take anything away from the achievement.

"We still have to remain focused on a good performance on Sunday. I still want the boys to see the Liverpool game as a championship decider. That's the game where we round off the league and I don't want it to just fizzle out."

United will now face Spurs in a national playoff between the northern and southern league champions next Thursday, giving the Reds a shot at an incredible Treble.

"We need to maintain our levels so that we can reproduce them against Spurs on Thursday. I want a few champagne corks flying around the dressing room, then we concentrate on Thursday," Rene said. "We've got one shot at a Treble."
