Sir Roy Gardner showed all the other Manchester United Directors what should have been done once the Glazers became their new bosses after the Board had recommended that their bid be rejected. That was for them to put their United supporter's hats on, knock on the Glazer's door and then give them a letter of resignation.
Nick Humby decided to stay. Andy Anson decided to stay - even in spite of the Glazers having prevented him becoming a director at the last and final meeting of the PLC shareholders.
Nick Humby oversaw the stadium expansion. Andy Anson sorted the new shirt sponsor.
With both jobs completed it shouldn't have come as a surprise to anyone that they have now been chopped.
This move leaves David Gill as the only Director who isn't a Glazer, with Edward Woodward retaining a great deal of influence with the Gimpsons until he concludes the refinancing sums.
Once that's sorted and with JP Morgan calling all the shots on the important decisions in any case, David Gill's position would seem to be untenable.
Rumour is that Fred Done has already paid out on him being given his P45 in the not to distant future.
