"There were about 10 of us walking through Lille on Tuesday lunchtime. One of my mates spotted Gill walking along the road. Two of us approached him. He'd heard my mate shout something like "f*** me, there's David Gill" and quickened his pace away from us. Someone else shouted at Gill that he should be ashamed (about his role in the takeover).

Anyway, my mate caught up with him and said: "Excuse me, Mr Gill, would you accept this sticker?" And tried to hand him an LUHG sticker.

Gill turned round, swiped the sticker out of his hand and then said: "Who the fuck you do you think you are anyway, you know-nothing little prick?"

He replied with: "I'm one of your customers, mate."

And Gill responded with something like 'I don't care who you are.' Then said: "Now go on, fuck off!" and walked away."
