Stuart Pearce
Who's bitter?
Stuart Pearce has jokingly told Sir Alex Ferguson to honour his pledge to give Manchester City a massive 15,000 tickets for Saturday's derby. The pair was having a chat at a fund-raising function a couple of months ago.

Ferguson told Pearce how much he had enjoyed the atmosphere the night that Celtic brought their massive support to Old Trafford. Fergie was reflecting how good it would be if all away teams were able to bring a similar support.

Instead, the Berties will be restricted to their annual 3,000 allocation, even though the ground capacity at Old Trafford has now increased to 76,000.

"I am sure Sir Alex will remember the night he said that and offer us another 15,000 because I have got a “bitter” feeling we would fill our massive allocation," Pearce told the MEN.

The Berties have not recorded a victory at Old Trafford since Denis Law's famous back heel in 1974. Pearce is aware of the difficulty in returning to the Council House with all three points, when they go up against United in Saturday’s lunch time derby.
